Activity: Engaging or ready to engage in physically energetic pursuits.

We promote daily activity as a portal for building healthier habits. After that, we talk about challenging ourselves with what we do for activity and nutrition. Today, we’re talking about physical activity.

We are talking about being a little uncomfortable and moving your body every single day in some way shape or form. Dragging yourself off the couch, chair, whatever even if it’s raining, snowing, hot as hell or whatever and being active. Some examples are walking, jogging, running, biking, lunges, squats, jumps, pull and push exercises, drag, carry, clean, snatch, swimming, golfing, stretching, playing a sport, rollerblading, literally anything every single day.

For Everyday People

We are not talking about training for a marathon or professional sport that takes several hours a day and a completely different ask. This ask is simply an activity. Not me, you, you asking you to be active. You’re physically standing in front of a mirror, saying you are too busy, saying you have so much going on, then saying screw this, I am going for a jog or doing a workout or being active for 20-30 minutes today.

We are talking about everyday people not being on pills, not being dangerously overweight, not being more susceptible to getting sick, having internal sadness that they are not living their truth, having terrible sleep, being stiff or injured all the time. It does not have to be this way. You can change and you can live a better life. These are things we can work towards, but it starts with activity. Getting up, getting off your devices, not watching TV or whatever else, and getting your body moving for some small doses of activity, then building momentum off of that. Simply five days a week of a 30-minute walk is 100% better than 7 days a week of zero activity. It’s not funny to be really unhealthy. It’s not funny to be injured. Your physical self is not a joke. The fun or funny part is when you realize your potential and look back at who you were months and years ago. That is funny. You can get there.

Just Be Active

What is the alternative? Where does this all go in 10-20 years? Are you in your own way? Doing nothing and thinking your way into being healthy? Thinking your way into being less prone to injury? Thinking your way into losing weight? Thinking your way into a better version of you? Hi, it doesn’t work. What works is day-to-day, face-to-face, interaction with yourself and pressing the issue of activity.

You know you need to be active. You know it can be cumbersome with time restraints, low energy, low motivation and more. However, activity is allowed to evolve! It can be more or less each week depending on a variety of factors. You do not need to be sore all the time to check off the activity box. A week of brisk walks one week, some weight training another, hikes another, bike and run another. Honestly, just be active.
